'Keep your head up' - Newcastle United fans show support to Nick Pope after costly England error

Newcastle United fans have taken to social media to support Nick Pope after the goalkeeper's costly error for England. The Magpies number one was at fault for Germany's late equaliser in the thrilling 3-3 draw at Wembley on Monday night.

It was shaping up to be another dismal evening for the Three Lions, with an Ilkay Gundogan penalty putting the visitors in front shortly after the restart. Kai Havertz doubled this advantage with a stunning long-range strike, but Gareth Southgate's side then produced a superb response.

England scored three times in 12 minutes to put themselves in position for a much-needed victory. Luke Shaw pulled one back before Mason Mount's equaliser, and Harry Kane made no mistake from the penalty spot.

However, this lead proved short-lived after Pope failed to gather Serge Gnabry's dipping effort from range. The Newcastle goalkeeper spilled the strike, presenting Kai Havertz with a simple tap-in to seal a draw.

Pope was visibly disappointed in the aftermath of the error, with captain Harry Kane admitting it was an 'error' in his post-match interview. Here is how Newcastle fans responded to the goalkeeper's mistake on social media.
