Keb’ Mo’ — Moonlight, Mistletoe & You review: Blues-infused schmaltz for a lounge classics Christmas

It's Christmas — the lounge classics version! And Keb’ Mo’s blues-infused festive album is as schmaltzy as every holiday record.

Sleigh bells ring in Please Come Home For Christmas — which stays the saccharine side of mawkish.

The best songs are, inevitably, the ones celebrating generalised goodwill, rather than the festival itself, like Better Everyday,— though Santa Claus, Santa Claus, a sort of rock ’n’ blues ode to the big man, is plenty of fun.

You can imagine swaying absent-mindedly along to every single track (perhaps in a Starbucks) and Keb’ Mo’s voice elevates plenty of them above most Christmas songs.
