Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele are two writer-comedians who have a popular TV comedy show in the US called Key and Peele. Until this moment, I had been unaware of this, and them. At any rate, here is the movie vehicle for their double act, and you probably have to make a fan-following investment in their career to like it.
Keanu is a spoof action-thriller in which Peele plays Rell, a guy plunged into depression when his girlfriend leaves him but is miraculously saved from despair by an adorable kitten turning up on his doorstep – which he names Keanu. But Keanu once belonged to some scary criminals who rob his apartment and take Keanu back, so Rell and his equally nerdy buddy Clarence (Key) have to pose as tough guys to infiltrate their setup and get their kitten back.
There is one moderate gag when they go to a lapdance called Hot Party Vixens or HPV (“Unfortunate,” murmurs one), but I don’t see Keanu making stars or household names of Peele or Key on this side of the Atlantic.
