Keane to play Nottingham's Royal Concert Hall following release of 'surprise' new album and band member heartache

Keane have announced a major UK tour following the release of a "surprise" new album - and yes, it includes Nottingham.

The lads will be at the Royal Concert Hall on Friday, October 4 playing their classic hits and tunes from soon-to-be-released record Cause and Effect.

The new album came as something of a surprise even to the band as singer Tom Chaplin had established himself as a solo artist.

However, he says he missed his old sparring partner Tim Rice-Oxley: “I found myself wondering how I had come to let this very enigmatic and important relationship in my life drift.”

Meanwhile Tim found his life falling apart and from the ashes had written an album’s worth of incredibly personal songs fuelled by his pain.

“Hopes and Fears was a break-up album too, but it was about a break-up when I was 19,” says Tim.

"It’s a bit different when you’re older and you’ve got kids – your whole little world shifts on its axis.”

Cause and Effect is Keane’s fifth studio album and will be release on September 20. Their four previous albums have all entered the UK charts at number one and accumulated sales of more than 13 million worldwide and 2.6 billion streams.

Tickets for Keane’s tour go on sale on Friday 14 June from  Seetickets and the venue.
