KCom reveals second wave of South Humber Bank broadband destinations as it rolls out £100m expansion

KCom has revealed the latest Lincolnshire destinations that will benefit from its ultrafast full fibre broadband as it widens its reach.

The award-winning Hull-headquartered broadband provider has confirmed the villages of Goxhill and Barrow after significant interest in being connected from both communities.

They were mooted when the market towns of Barton and Brigg were first revealed back in October - with 10,000 properties highlighted.

Dale Raneberg, KCom chief executive, said: “We’re delighted to announce that we can now add Goxhill and Barrow Upon Humber to the list of communities that will soon be connected to KCom’s ultrafast full fibre network.

“As part of the KCom family they will be able to access ultrafast speeds on one of the UK’s best full fibre networks. This means they will be able to stream, surf, download and work from home better than ever before, which has become essential for many people this year.”

The £100 million expansion sees cabling literally cross the Humber Bridge from East Yorkshire - a first in the firm’s 116-year history that it has set foot outside the traditional heartland to serve homes.

Mr Raneberg said: “When we announced our plans to bring our network to North Lincolnshire we said we would listen very carefully to local communities to gauge the demand for our ultrafast broadband – and that we would build where communities asked us to and the business case could be supported.

“We’ve been really pleased by the demand from the residents of Goxhill and Barrow Upon Humber, showing there’s a real pent-up need for quality broadband in those communities, and we’ll be starting our engineering work to connect them very soon.

“But we won’t stop there. We’d now love to hear from other communities in North Lincolnshire who also feel they could benefit from our full fibre network.”

A next wave, should there be demonstrable demand, includes Broughton, Scawby, Epworth, Haxey, Crowle, Messingham, Hibaldstow and Kirton in Lindsey.
