Kayvon Thibodeaux has strong words for Giants doubters

The New York Giants may be 6-1 this season but they are weekly underdogs. Not only does Vegas continue to doubt them, league experts and insiders also continue to bet against them.

For some, like rookie edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux, the narrative has grown tired.

“I don’t care what people around the league do,” Thibodeaux told NJ Advance Media after the game. “[Expletive] ’em! [Expletive] all the people around the league. The only people that matter are the people in this room. The only people that are going to dictate what happens on Sunday are the people in this room. Excuse my French.

“I mean, listen, I think the greatest thing we do is we fight for respect in the locker room. When you’re on that battlefield, I want you to not respect me.”

Others are also embracing the lack of respect.

“We probably still won’t get it,” wide receiver Darius Slayton also told NJ Advance Media. “We just seem to have a hard time getting it.”

“They can have us down every week if they want,” defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence added.

But not every Giant is amused with the lack of respect or the questions about it. Safety Xavier McKinney is tired of hearing about it and tired of talking about it.

“I really don’t even care for that question anymore. I’m kind of tired of answering it because it’s the same thing every week,” McKinney told reporters after the game. “Obviously, we know that. I really don’t care. We don’t care as a team. The only thing we can do is keep focusing on what we can do and keep getting better.”

Things won’t change in Week 8 for the Giants. They have opened as underdogs for their game against the Seattle Seahawks.
