Kayky issues first-team pledge after early Man City arrival

Kayky's agent says he will fight for games at Man City after completing a move to the club from Fluminese.

The Brazilian youngster signed a five-year deal with the club and has linked up with the first team earlier than planned after becoming the youngest-ever debutant for the Brazilian side and the youngest-ever Copa Libertadores goalscorer.

He has been training with the first team in the last week and, while he isn't expected to make his first-team debut any time soon, the 18-year-old's agent has already been discussing the plan for his client and says he will fight for games after Pep Guardiola made a personal effort to bring him to the Etihad Stadium.

Agent Frederico Moraes told reporters: “ Kayky will go step by step to get his role. He was open to a move to Man City even if he has to fight for games, he’ll be ready.

"People from City worked very well and fast to sign Kayky and Metinho - Pep Guardiola was involved too.”

Kayky adds to the Brazilian contingent at the Etihad already, following in the footsteps of Gabriel Jesus who also joined the club as a youngster directly from his home nation's top division, while captain Fernandinho is also from Brazil.

He won't feature in the team's Carabao Cup fixture against Wycombe on Tuesday, where several youngsters are likely to get a chance as Guardiola looks to rest his first-team regulars ahead of a huge week of fixtures.
