Kayaker in his 30s dies after getting into trouble off Welsh coast

A kayaker has died after getting into difficulty off the coast of north Wales.

The man, in his 30s and from the West Midlands, died after getting into trouble off the coast of Tywyn in Gwynedd on Sunday afternoon. He was pronounced dead en route to hospital, NorthWalesLive reports.

A North Wales Police spokesman said: "We received a call at 12.41pm on Sunday from colleagues at HM Coastguard reporting a kayaker that had got into difficulties in the sea off Tywyn. Officers attended along with RNLI and the Welsh Ambulance Service.

"Sadly a man in his 30s from the West Midlands died whilst being transported to hospital. His family have been informed.

"A report is being prepared for the coroner’s office."

The air ambulance joined paramedics, RNLI crews, coastguard officers and the police at the scene of Sunday's incident as efforts were made to save the man.
