Kayak, king and a young man: Fish of the Week, bringing hope to the world after all, one fish at a time

Matt Biggerstaff emailed photos of his son Isaac with a 14-pound Chinook caught earlier in September from their kayak.

“Matt and Isaac have joined the Libertyville Fishing Club recently and the most wholesome thing about it is they are a father-son team who fish out of a two-man kayak,” Lou DiNicola emailed. “There is hope for the world after all. Recruitment of our youth is a bigger challenge to fishing than catching fish!”

And I love the photo below of the kayak.

The two-person kayak that Matt Biggerstaff and his son Isaac fish out of at the ready.

FOTW, the celebration of big fish and their stories (the stories matter, as this one shows) around Chicago fishing, runs Wednesdays in the paper Sun-Times. The online posting here at https://chicago.suntimes.com/outdoors goes up at varied days of the week, depending on what is going on the wide world of the outdoors.
