If you were hoping for a decision from Toronto’s Kawhi Leonard before the weekend, you’re out of luck. According to one of the most plugged in voices on the Kawhi Leonard beat over the last few weeks, Leonard remains undecided about his decision.
Cris Carter, the former NFL star and current personality of Fox Sports 1, says that there will not be a decision from Leonard on Friday as many expected. Instead, Leonard is still mulling over his options, which are down to the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers and the defending champion Toronto Raptors.
But at least as far as the Lakers are concerned, they are running against the clock. With the free agent moratorium ending on Saturday and the Anthony Davis trade going through on that day, the Lakers are in a little bit of a tough spot as they await Leonard’s decision. While they agreed to terms with a couple of players on minimum deals, they still have $32 million in cap space to fill out and nearly two-thirds of their roster.
The Lakers currently have seven players on their roster of potentially 17, including two-way player Zach Norvell.
