Kawhi Leonard not expected to consider playing with Lakers

It never really looked like a possibility, but just in case you were holding out hope of a Kawhi Leonard-LeBron James partnership it might be okay to let that go.

Most rumors have connected Leonard to the Clippers and ESPN’s Michael C. Wright suggests that is still the case, and has been for a while. Wright was a guest on the Hoop Collective Podcast with Brian Windhorst, suggesting that Leonard didn’t have much interest in teaming up with the Lakers and LeBron James.

Below is Wright on Leonard and the Lakers, as transcribed by Adam Wells of Bleacher Report.

“I do not,” Wright said. “That’s just what I’ve been told. It’s what I’ve been told going back to last summer. I don’t see that as something that’s happening. I think he goes to the Clippers.”

Once again, this has been the case for a while in the public as well. Most folks are expecting Leonard to go to the Clippers, even more than they believe he will stay in Toronto.

And at least as far as the standings are concerned, the Lakers have a lot of ground to make up on the Clippers. That, unlike Leonard’s preference, was not expected.
