The Oklahoma City Thunder’s rookie Darius Bazley got the microphone before the team’s home opener, and used the opportunity to thank the fans … and do an impression of Kawhi Leonard’s bizarre “hey hey hey” thing he did when he joined the Clippers.
Thunder fans enjoyed it, but also there were plenty of people online who were worried about what this would mean. A young Thunder team had taken a shot at the best player on arguably the NBA’s best team, and if Kawhi was mad, good lord. People guessed he’d have 60 points … and 12 steals.
Leonard was asked about it, however, and … he was very cool about it.
Does he actually take it as love? Will he earnestly move past it? Or will he demand to cover Bazley during Thunder-Clippers, not let him touch the ball, give him a wedgie, and make him quit the sport forever?
Who’s to say. Hope it was worth it, Bazley.
