Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are joining the Clippers, which is so darn awesome for the NBA

Kawhi Leonard is going to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers. And he’s going to be joined by All-Star guard Paul George, who the Clippers are going to get in a trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Holy-freaking-moly.

This news, which broke around 11 p.m. PT and on a night that another big earthquake was felt in Los Angeles, was absolutely stunning. And Leonard’s decision is absolutely perfect, not only for the Clippers but for the rest of the NBA.

Toronto Raptors fans probably disagree with that but hey, Leonard was traded to the franchise last year and brought them a NBA title run that they’ll never forget.

Leonard could have joined LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the Lakers, which would have pretty much ended the NBA season before it even began.

It would have been easy for Leonard to join such a team and just likely roll to a few more NBA titles.

Sure, he would have been hated by a large number of NBA fans, but it was definitely the easy way out.

Instead, he’s going to Los Angeles to play for the Clippers, a franchise that has been a distant second in the LA NBA hoops scene for ever.

It’s such a Kawhi move, though when you think about it, basically going to the New Balance of the NBA franchise in LA.

And it’s such a juicy move for the city. The Clippers-Lakers rivalry is about to become a lot of fun and hopefully for quite some time moving forward.

This is also great news for the NBA as the league now appears to be incredibly wide open. There isn’t a “Super Team” out there right now. There are a bunch of super teams, however, and the Clippers are one of those.

The Western Conference, thanks to a number of big moves this offseason, is going to be be absolutely ridiculous.

The Clippers, Lakers, Nuggets, Jazz, Rockets, Trail Blazers, and even the the Warriors all have huge names leading the way.

The Eastern Conference will be fun, too.

NBA fans love what this Leonard/George move means for everyone involved:

Yup, I can’t wait for the 2019-2020 season to start. Let’s go!
