Kawasaki Motors Corporation USA just issued a Stop Sale notice for its 2025 and 2026 W230 ABS motorcycles due to a safety recall for a turn signal issue. The problem relates to a manufacturing problem, where the light bulbs used in these turn signals may fail to illuminate properly. A lack of properly lit turn signals could increase the risk of a crash and/or injury.
Approximately 840 individual motorcycles could be affected, according to Kawasaki's records. This represents around 1% of the population, and applies across both the 2025 and 2026 model years of the W230 ABS. The affected bikes were produced between October 2, 2024 and October 28, 2025.
When the turn signal light bulbs were manufactured by one of Kawasaki's suppliers, this batch apparently may have had foreign materials introduced to the bulbs, and/or may be cracked. These issues could lead the bulb filament to already be damaged as installed in affected motorcycles, thus causing it not to properly illuminate when a rider goes to activate it.
Kawasaki is currently in the process of developing a recall schedule, and has not yet announced an owner notification schedule regarding this recall. The company issued the Stop Sale notice to its dealer network across the US on June 12, 2026, and the campaign number registered with Kawasaki dealers is 26-17 MC. When the time comes, owners will be instructed to contact their local authorized Kawasaki dealers to arrange for a recall service to be performed on their affected machines.
