Kavanaugh hearing: Matt Damon makes surprise SNL appearance as embattled Supreme Court nominee

Saturday Night Live enlisted the help of Matt Damon to satirise the Brett Kavanaugh hearing, the actor making a surprise appearance and getting the Supreme Court nominee’s mannerisms down to a T.

“Now I’m usually an optimist, I’m a keg half full kinda guy,” Damon’s Kavanaugh said, while rampantly drinking water and sniffing.

He recounted “lifting weights with PJ and Squee” and the “couple thousands” beers they drank, jokes coming at the expensive of Kavanaugh’s fury and his detailed calendars.

The line: “I’m not backing down you sons of bitches, I don’t know the meaning of the word stop,” got a particularly big laugh.

The mock hearing gave pretty much the entire SNL cast a chance to play all of the different senators, with Kate McKinnon giving a stand-out performance as appalled Republican Lindsey Graham.

“Female prosecutor” Rachel Mitchell also turned up, Aidy Bryant thanking the senators for the “weird little children’s desk” they set up for her, before announcing: “My name is Rachel Mitchell, I’m here mostly for Twitter.”

Adam Driver guest hosted this week’s SNL, with Kanye West providing the music (and controversial politics).
