Katy Perry 'won the battle' with Orlando Bloom over choosing Daisy's name

Katy Perry reportedly 'won the battle' over naming her newborn daughter with fiancé Orlando Bloom set on a different moniker.

The 35-year-old pop star welcomed their first daughter together on Wednesday, August 26 and in their announcement through UNICEF, revealed that the baby will be called Daisy Dove Bloom.

It would seem that this was not Orlando's first choice though and that he had proposed Fiona instead.

According to Us Weekly, Katy won the naming rights day and it was her choice that will be with her daughter forever.

Speaking to the US publication, a source said: "Katy won the battle over baby’s name.

"She was pulling for the moniker Daisy, but Orlando liked Fiona.”

The 43-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean star was hopeful for Fiona as he allegedly thought it “sounded good alongside” his name and nine-year-old son Flynn, who he shares with Miranda Kerr.

It would seem that it was a late decision on what the baby will be called as last month a source had said that they had "yet to agree" on the name.

The source said at the time that Katy had already made her choice but they had not agreed as a couple.

The insider explained: "She likes the name Daisy because daisies are her favourite flowers, simple, pure and sunny.

“She is also fond of the name Grace Ann. Ann after her grandmother, whose name was Ann Pearl.”

Orlando was reportedly "okay with honouring Katy’s late Grandma, he like[d] her middle name, Pearl."

The singer surprised her fans in March when she announced her pregnancy in the music video for Never Worn White, debuting her baby bump in the process.

They announced the safe arrival of Daisy through UNICEF in a statement which read: "We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter.

“In celebration of the heart we know our daughter already has, we have set up a [UNICEF] donation page to celebrate DDB’s arrival.

"By supporting them, you are supporting a safe start to life and reimagining a healthier world for every child. We hope your heart can bloom with generosity.”

The statement was accompanied by a black and white photo of Katy and Orlando holding their daughter's hand.

Katy had a daisy painted on her thumbnail.
