Katy Perry's cabinets celebrate a minimalist trend that's versatile enough to impress in every style of kitchen

Katy Perry.

A minimalist aesthetic is never more desirable than in a kitchen – a room that's evolved as a cooking, working, and entertaining space.

Achieving such a look is a combination of various factors, including our wall color, choice of accessories, and countertop finishes. However, our cabinet handles (or, more currently, our lack of them) are among the most impactful ways to achieve this look – as Katy Perry demonstrates.

Perry, who lives with actor Orlando Bloom, shared a look at their minimalist kitchen, which exhibits sleek handle-less cabinets in a modern gray hue. While their color taps into the pared-back aesthetic, the lack of handles truly brings the minimal look to life, resulting in a seamless modern space that design experts love.

'Handleless kitchen cabinets aren't anything new, but as maximalist interiors begin to decline in popularity, sleek, minimal kitchens are once more becoming the go-to for homeowners all over the world,' comments  Paul Dore, a kitchen expert, at County Stone. 'Handleless cabinets are one of the most effective ways of introducing that polished and sophisticated look into a kitchen.'

In Perry and Bloom's case, the handleless cabinets work to emphasize the overall modern feel of the room. However, Dore reassures us that these cabinets have a place in even the most traditional of spaces.

While handleless kitchen cabinets may be seen as modern, they do, in fact, offer a timeless look that integrates with almost every kitchen style. Whether you're looking for that ultramodern kitchen style with clean lines that oozes sophistication, or you're lusting after a more traditional look straight from Instagram, their uncluttered appearance can add elegance and a point of difference to any kitchen,' he says.

Plus, aesthetics aside, Dore explains that handleless cabinets have practical benefits that shouldn't go unnoticed.

'The absence of prominent handles means no more accidental bumps and snags - ideal for busy young families where the kitchen truly is the heart of the home, as well as those who have limited mobility or accessibility,' he says.

'A simple push-to-open and close mechanism makes them particularly perfect for kitchens that are used throughout the day or as a through-room.'

Similarly, handleless cabinets make the process of cleaning a kitchen slightly more seamless (and we welcome any help we can get, even if it is small). 'We all know that a clean kitchen is never clean for long, but handles just make that little bit harder to keep clean,' Dore says.

'Handles attract dirt, grime, and germs from all over and require more in-depth cleaning to get into nooks and crannies. But with the absence of handles, a quick wipe with a cloth will leave your kitchen looking like it jumped straight out of a magazine.'

Cabinets aside, we can tap into Perry's space with these accessories we spotted on her countertops. They deserve a place in the most minimal of spaces.
