Katy Perry has revealed how US fast food chain In-N-Out Burger brought her and fiancé Orlando Bloom together.
Speaking on American Idol last night, the singer shared the story of how she and Bloom bonded over burgers at the 2016 Golden Globes with contestant Johanna Jones, who works at the food outlet.
“Can I tell you one thing that is kind of sweet?” Perry asked, before explaining: “I met my boyfriend over In-N-Out.”
“We were at the Golden Globes and we weren’t together,” she said.
“So I had my security guard grab 10 In-N-Outs and all of a sudden I see my boyfriend’s hand. He wasn’t even sitting at our table – he just swoops in and he grabs it and I was like, ‘Hey, that’s my burger!’”
Fellow judge Luke Bryan joked: “And you were like, ‘Oh, you’re on the other end of that hand!’”
“Yeah I did,” Perry agreed, prompting Jones to suggest that “In-N-Out creates true love.”
Bloom proposed to Perry with a pink ring on Valentine’s Day, and last week the singer opened up about how the actor’s romantic gesture nearly went awry on an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Explaining how Bloom hired a helicopter for the occasion, Perry revealed that things did not go entirely to plan when a bottle of champagne burst and Bloom’s pocket ripped, revealing the ring.
“We had champagne in the helicopter and the box was in his pocket and he had written down everything he wanted to say on a note,” she told Kimmel.
“So I’m reading but I’m hearing the champagne is broken and the bottle’s everywhere… he’s pulling out this box that’s too big for his coat pocket and it rips his coat pocket and his elbow goes into the champagne.”
The couple confirmed the happy news to their Instagram followers shortly after the proposal, sharing identical selfies in which Perry’s huge pink ring could clearly be seen.
Perry was previously married to comedian Russell Brand, while Bloom shares eight-year-old Flynn with ex-wife Miranda Kerr.
