Katy Perry has finally revealed the reason she and Taylor Swift patched things up after their bitter five-year feud.
The rift between the two pop princesses stems way back to 2014 when Taylor, 30, accused Katy, 35, of stealing backing dancers from her Red tour.
What followed, was an array of public spats and even revenge songs on both sides in the form of Bad Blood and Swish Swish.
The singers decided to drop the tension last year after Katy literally offered the Shake It Off singer an olive branch.
And now mum-to-be Katy has revealed the reason behind declaring truce with Taylor.
Speaking to Howard Stern, the Firework hitmaker said she hopes this will be a good example to young women, adding that the pals now want “the best for each other".
She explained: "Gossip and lies, they take the elevator. But truth takes the stairs... time will tell my story."
She continued: "What I'm so grateful for is that we did get to make up, and we made up publicly to be an example of redemption.
"It's hard for young girls, growing up [with] cliques and high school and pettiness and all that stuff, so now we're super friendly and I've always wanted the best for her and we can talk about the best we want for each other."
After sending Taylor an olive branch last year, Katy attached an apology letter to it, admitting that she had been "deeply sorry" for all the drama between them.
"Hey old friend, I've been doing some reflecting on past miscommunications and the hurt feelings between us," the letter reads.
Taylor shared a snap of the letter to her Instagram story and wrote 'Thank you Katy' alongside it.
The singers are now in very exciting stages of their lives, with Katy expecting to welcome her first child - a baby girl - with fiancé Orlando Bloom in a matter of weeks.
Meanwhile, Taylor has been happily dating British actor Joe Alwyn for four years, with their relationship going from strength to strength ever since.
