Katy Perry 'could be replaced' on American Idol after 'rude' comments 'rattle' bosses

American Idol producers are reportedly "rattled" by Katy Perry 's behaviour as a judge on the hit US talent show.

With fans unimpressed with Katy's comments to contestants throughout the season so far, many have taken to social media to slam the Firework singer, 38.

"I don’t watch American Idol anymore, but every time I see a clip of it Katy Perry is acting rude towards the performer auditioning. What’s that about?" penned one Twitter user on Friday (April 21).

While another added: "Have you recently seen her on American Idol? I caught some episodes. Katy is one nasty and rude person."

Branding her comments to hopefuls auditioning on the show as "rude and condescending", it has now been reported that producers could replace the star as a judge on the programme.

Mirror Online have reached out to ABC, Disney and Katy's publicists for comment.

Katy became a judge on American Idol during its sixteenth season in 2018.

The speculation from Radar comes after talented auditionee Sara Beth Lieb quit the show during after fans called Katy out for "mum-shaming" the hopeful.

Sara, 25, appeared on the show when the judges said she didn't look old enough to be a mum.

And when the judges were told that she was a mum to three children, Katy stood up, which led to Sara joking: "If Katy lays on the table, I think I’m going to pass out."

Replying to the hopeful, Katy then said: "Honey, you been laying on the table too much."

This then led to Katy bringing Sara back on stage with her urging her not to give up.

Katy said: "I know you love your family, your kids; I know that as a mother. But self-love is just as big as motherly love. Don’t leave the competition." But Sara still decided to quit the show.

Addressing the incident with the pop superstar in a TikTok video after her audition went viral, she spoke out candidly to her fans.

In the video she said: "I mean it was embarrassing to have that on TV and it was hurtful and you know, that's that."
