Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have finally confirmed their long-rumored break-up.
The road to the admission, and ultimately acceptance, was paved by thorny roses. The two had apparently been growing apart for a variety of reasons. The first issue between the two was when Katy Perry released her album 143 that, by all intents and purposes, missed the mark. The critics dismissed it, and judging by Billboard stats, the fans weren’t disagreeing with that assessment.
Reportedly, the poor reception led her to focus on making her upcoming world tour a comprehensive comeback. The tour is doing well, but behind the scenes, that apparently has also caused her to be apart from Orlando Bloom during a time where mounting “pressure” between the two was brewing.
Furthermore, there was also a reported case that the two were arguing about the fiasco that is the 11-minute space trip. Apparently, Orlando Bloom found the entire ordeal embarrassing. To be fair to the Pirates of the Caribbean star, so did the rest of the internet — but we digress. That apparently ended up being the final straw.
Now, Orlando Bloom is already moving on with his life. His first public sighting has been at Jeff Bezos’ city-dominating wedding celebration with Lauren Sánchez. Reportedly, this is also not being taken well by Katy Perry because she considers Bezos as her friend and expected to get him and Sánchez in the aftermath of the relationship.
Other than that, though, Page Six reports that Katy Perry does see some positives in this break-up. Chief among them being that she won’t have to get a divorce this time. A source revealed, “It’s not contentious at the moment. Katy is of course upset, but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life.”
The two reportedly have been living apart as Katy Perry has been on tour with their 4-year-old child, Daisy Dove. According to the publication, they’re waiting for the tour to be officially over so that they can completely detangle each other from the other’s living arrangements. The two have been engaged since Valentine’s Day 2019 and were expected to make things official any day, but the poor reception of her releases reportedly caused so much strife and tension in their relationship they decided to put things on hold.
Orlando Bloom wanted to be the understanding partner, but he couldn’t hold on any longer. Katy Perry is going to focus on her music career and will expectedly be getting back to creating more music at the end of her tour. No dates for new music are out, though, but that’s probably not gonna last long. For most artists, a broken heart tends to be the biggest inspiration for the majority of the hits in their catalogue.
The two stars have been refreshingly candid and honest throughout their relationship, and it’s actually encouraging that at no point did the two ever let things get ugly. More stars should take note.
