Katie Taylor World title rematch confirmed with Delfine Persoon in August

Katie Taylor will put all her world titles on the line in a rematch with Delfine Persoon on 22 August.

The Bray boxer became the undisputed lightweight champion with a controversial points victory over the Belgian at Madison Square Garden last year.

And the pair will take to the ring again in a behind closed doors event staged in Essex with Taylor defending her WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO and Ring Magazine belts.

The bout will be the chief support to heavyweight clash between Dillian Whyte and Alexander Povetkin, and the Olympic gold medallist is keen to set the record straight.

Taylor said: "I wanted the biggest fight possible in August and I think a second Persoon fight is one that everyone wants to see.

"I've been looking forward to a rematch ever since the first fight and I'm delighted it's been made. It was definitely very close first time around, but I felt I deserved the win and I intend to leave no doubts in the rematch."

Persoon said: "I am ready to get the victory following the injustice last June in New York, not by words but in the ring - I am ready."

It all comes after fight talks between Taylor and American Amanda Serrano broke down after lengthy negotiations.

But Taylor's promoter Eddie Hearn, in whose garden the fight will take place as part of a 'Fight Camp' series broadcast on Sky Sports pay per view, feels they have hit the jackpot.

Hearn said: "To be honest I can't quite believe this fight has been made. I can't give enough credit to Katie and Delfine for agreeing to do it again.

"Since their epic 'Fight of the Year' contender at Madison Square Garden last year, everyone has wanted to see this once again and now we have it.

"I'm very proud to stage this fight, especially at such a critical time for our sport - along with Whyte vs Povetkin, August 22 will be one not to forget."
