Katie Taylor vows to make most of lockdown as she trains for Serrano super-fight

Katie Taylor has promised to turn the coronavirus lockdown into a positive as she continues to train away for her super-fight with Amanda Serrano this summer.

The pair would be just hours away from colliding right now if not for the coronavirus pandemic, and fans will have to wait a few months for a behind-closed-doors bout.

The rescheduled fight is planned to go down on July 4 with no fans, but it's likely that it could be pushed back to a later date.

Meanwhile, the Bray boxer is sitting tight and training alone in her Connecticut house across the Atlantic, and hasn't noticed a huge difference in her daily life.

“I feel like my whole life has been in quarantine," Taylor said on Instagram Live with promoter Eddie Hearn.

“I said to my family: ‘You realise you’ve already been in isolation so much when you have to go into quarantine and nothing about your personal life changes’.

“I’ve obviously been over here for a few months training for May 2. But this is just the time for me, now to work on a few things.

“This isn’t a time for anyone to take their foot off the gas. It’s going to pay off for the fighters who are disciplined right now. These are the times when it actually makes the difference, I feel.

“You can turn this into a positive and actually try to work on a few things. And when the boxing world does come back, I’m going to be one of the fighters who was disciplined and I’m going to be ready".
