Katie Taylor could finally fight Amanda Serrano next year.
The undisputed lightweight champion was due to face the Puerto Rican last May before Covid-19 brought a halt to sporting fixtures across the world.
The bout was then rearranged for July before being pushed back to August, but Serrano withdrew from it over a disagreement on her fight purse.
Taylor once again expressed her interest in fighting the seven-weight world champion after beating Natasha Jonas last weekend and Serrano's promoter Lou DiBella believes the bout will happen in 2022.
He told Sky Sports: "I think the fight will happen in 2022 as a unification between two undisputed world champions.
"Hopefully Katie does not lose in the interim. I don't think she will.
"Amanda wants to unify the belts at 126lbs. She will be moving up two weight classes [to fight Taylor]. She is a featherweight, really. She has only moved up before to chase legacy and increase opportunities.
"She wants to unify featherweight before she moves up to lightweight, from which she will never come back down.

"Featherweight is her real weight, where she wants to prove herself.
"Then, when the world is open and the fight can take place at Madison Square Garden in front of thousands of Irish and Puerto Rican fans, the fight will happen.
"We would welcome negotiations right now if they come with a huge number."
Speaking after her win over Jonas, Taylor said: “I’m ready to fight anybody. There’s so many big fights out there for me. I’m willing and ready to step in. Jessica McCaskill is a big, big fight. Jumping back into a big fight like that would be fantastic.
“Amanda Serrano would be a great fight. There have been big names being thrown out there and I’m OK to fight any of those big fights."
