Katie Taylor to join boxing icons such as Muhammad Ali and Canelo Alvarez in brand new video game

Katie Taylor is set to feature alongside boxing royalty such as Muhammad Ali and Canelo Alvarez in a brand new video game.

The Bray Bomber appeared in a trailer for the new console game entitled eSports Boxing Club.

The game is due to land later in the year with its trailer claiming it has the "greatest fight roster is video game history".

The Irish fighter is in good company, with Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, Wladimir Klitschko and many more big name fighters also included in the roster.

Mexican professional boxer Canelo Alvarez, who currently holds several world titles, announced that he was the "face of the game".

He posted on Twitter: ""The face of boxing'' is coming to PC, PlayStation and Xbox. Find me in the brand new boxing video game."

Despite the star-studded line-up for the game, as of yet, the game does not appear to include the likes of Floyd Mayweather Jr., Manny Pacquiao, Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, and Deontay Wilder.

The early access release on video game distribution service Steam is expected as early as June, while a release on PlayStation and X-Box X/S and Series X and S will be at a later date.
