Katie Taylor's success 'leaving a legacy' and inspiring young boxers across globe

Katie Taylor's manager Brian Peters has pointed out how her rise to stardom is inspiring the next generation of boxing stars.

Taylor kept up her unbeaten professional record last month and successfully defended the undisputed world title with a unanimous decision win over Delfine Persoon at Matchroom Boxing's Fight Camp.

The 34-year-old's manager shared snaps on social media showing gyms around Europe with photos and murals of the Bray puncher decorating the walls.

Peters tweeted: "This is leaving a legacy. The @KatieTaylor effect in action at Berdonce Boxing club in Spain and Boxing Club Nantais in France. Inspiring the next generation across the globe."

Fans replied with praise of Taylor as a 'great role model' and 'great ambassador for the sport'.

Taylor enjoyed a family day out over the weekend after completing a period of quarantine following her latest triumph.

Speaking after the Persoon win, Taylor said she couldn't wait to get home to spend time with her family.

She told Sky Sports: "I haven't been home in seven or eight months. The last time I was home was over the Christmas.

"I was obviously training in Connecticut for a fight that was supposed to be in May and obviously it got postponed so I just can't wait to get home to spend some time with family - my nieces, my nephews, my granny. I just can't wait to see them."
