Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano to take place in Manchester in May

Katie Taylor will take on Amanda Serrano in Manchester on May 2.

The date and time have been set for what is likely to be the biggest fight purse in the history of women's boxing.

Taylor registered a landslide victory over Serrano’s elder sister Cindy in Boston in 2018, with the Bray woman winning 100-90 on all three cards.

Taylor will put her four lightweight world title belts on the line in the bout, which was confirmed on Friday.

Serrano likes her chances against the London 2012 Olympic champion, staggeringly suggesting that Taylor is an 'average' boxer.

Speaking on Sirius XM las month, she said: "She’s an average woman, she’s a girl. I mean, my trainer, Jordan (Maldonado), saw it when she was in there with my sister.

"She’s average, there’s nothing really to her. She’s not no superhero like everyone paints her to be. Katie Taylor’s just another female fighter.

“She has a gold medal from the Olympics, she has a great promoter pushing her and everybody knows who she is because of Matchroom Boxing and DAZN, and articles written about her.

“Her promoter did a great job promoting her.”

The heavyweight clash between Dillian White and Alexander Povetkin will headline the card at the Manchester Arena.

Irish fans will be able to watch the fight on Sky Sports.
