Katie Taylor's earnings from social media miles behind Conor McGregor and other male fighters, survey finds

Katie Taylor earns a lot less than her male counterparts for each of her posts on Instagram, a survey has found.

The Bray boxer has dominated the professional women's game since switching from the amateur ranks in 2016.

She has won all 18 of her fights in that time, becoming undisputed lightweight champion in the process and also winning the WBO super lightweight title in 2019.

A survey by OnlineGambling.com claims that Taylor, who has 390k followers on Instagram, makes an estimated €2,400 per post, making her the second highest paid female boxer per post on the social media platform behind fellow undefeated fighter and double Olympic gold medallist Claressa Shields.

But the figure is dwarfed by the amounts earned by male fighters, with Conor McGregor, who has 40million followers, earning an estimated €139,000 per post and his former opponent Floyd Mayweather, who has almost 26million followers, earning an estimated €114,000 per post.

Mike Tyson comes in second behind his fellow American on the list of male boxers, earning approximately €59,000 per post.

Anthony Joshua is third on the list of boxers and earns an estimated €54,000 per post, with his heavyweight rival Tyson Fury earning an estimated €18,000 per post.

Online Gambling used the Hopper HQ Instagram Rich List, which estimates that Instagram accounts can earn €0.0038 per follower, to carry out the survey.

Taylor defeated former amateur rival Natasha Jonas in Manchester last month and now looks set to face one of her mandatories in September.

Following the bout in May, Jonas rubbished suggestions that she only earned €25,000 from the fight.

A Twitter user claimed that Jonas and Taylor only received £22,000 (€25k) and £34,000 (€39k) respectively for the fight in comparison to over €2million each for Joseph Parker and Derek Chisora, who collided in the main event on the night.

But Jonas replied to a tweet, saying that the figure was not correct.

She said: "Mine is not true. I can confirm that at least."
