Katie Taylor's father Pete has opened up on the family's Leeds links with his daughter set to fight in the city on Saturday.
Taylor is on the undercard of Josh Warrington's headline fight in Leeds and the 2012 Olympic gold medal winner has been discussing her childhood memories from the city.
The Bray boxer said that her family are Leeds United mad and had visited the city for games multiple times.
And Taylor's father Pete grew up in Leeds and on the doorstep of Elland Road and gave an insight what it was like for the Taylor family growing up going to Leeds.
Posting on Instagram, he said: "Grew up beside Elland road, all my kids supported Leeds growing up and sported Leeds jerseys in the 90’s when the majority supported Man U or Liverpool.
"Never be afraid to be different, it’s easy to stand with the crowd but it takes courage to stand alone. Delighted to see Katie boxing in my home city"
And Katie opened up on her Leeds United roots, saying: “They're definitely a very, very loud and passionate crowd.
“A very rough crowd as well but I like that. They were some of my best memories growing up going to Leeds United games in Elland Road, I came over a couple of times.
“I can't remember who they played against but both times they won, so it was during the time when Leeds were on top.
“We were coming over to visit my da's family and with that we always went to a Leeds United game. It was so special.
“Every Christmas I got a Leeds United jersey and a pair of football boots. That was part of growing up for me.”
