Katie Taylor's dad Pete in celebratory mood as boxing champ daughter set to appear on Late Late Show

Pete Taylor is in a celebratory mood after one of his apprentices achieved their dream of becoming a professional boxer.

The boxing coach, and dad of world champion boxer Katie Taylor, took to social media to share his delight over John Coffey's achievement.

Posting a picture of the pair of them, he said: "Two years of solid graft & an investment training consistently with the pro team has resulted in @johncoffeyboxing realising his dream of becoming a professional boxer himself.

"He makes his pro debut at a weeks notice because he’s remained ready & in condition incase the opportunity arises."

The post came as daughter Katie prepared for her appearance on The Late Late Show.

The interview is her first in-depth chat with Ryan Tubridy on RTE's flagship show since turning professional five years ago.

Pete previously coached Katie during a period in which she won gold at the 2012 Olympics, but stopped prior to the 2016 games in Rio.
