Katie Taylor preparing for Delfine Persoon rematch - but not ruling out Amanda Serrano superfight

Undefeated world lightweight champion Katie Taylor is preparing for a potential rematch with Delfine Persoon later this year - but she hasn't ruled out a super-fight with Amanda Serrano.

The Bray boxer is back in Ireland after unifying all four lightweight belts against the Belgian fighter at Madison Square Garden last month, and is expecting to fight again in October or November.

But it's not yet clear who Taylor will fight. In aftermath of the June 1 showdown it was suggested that Persoon would be handed a rematch, but 33-year-old is unsure about her next opponent.

"The next fight is going to be maybe around October or November some time. I don't know who that's going to be against," Taylor said at a SKY VIP exclusive viewing of her documentary 'Katie' on Tuesday.

"I leave that stuff up to Eddie (Hearn) and Brian (Peters) I guess, but I'm happy to fight whoever.

"There's big names being thrown out, the likes of Amanda Serrano as well, a (Delfine) Persoon rematch is very possible but I'm ready for whoever.

"I'm going back to America next week to start training actually so I'm looking forward to the possible rematch with Persoon and whatever else is going to happen."

And Taylor has her eyes on a super-fight with Puerto Rican star Amanda Serrano, saying that she'd love to step into the ring with the 30-year-old.

Taylor said: "I think that the biggest fight in women's boxing right now - the fight that everyone's been talking about - is Amanda Serrano for these last few years.

"I really would love that fight, there's been a lot of talk about it. She's very good at talking as well so that's the fight that I'd absolutely love."

Taylor fought her sister ,Cindy, in Boston last October, winning by unanimous decision - but Taylor is adamant that she won't get dragged into a war of words with Serrano if the pair were to go toe-to-toe.

Taylor added: "That's (trash talking) probably for her part, I'm not gonna trash talk her - I'm usually the quiet one!"

But over a month after defeating Persoon, Taylor has enjoyed her time back in Ireland before she heads back across the Atlantic to resume training.

"It's been brilliant," Taylor said.

"This is the longest that I've been home in a long long time. I think it's been six weeks now since the (Persoon) fight.

"I'm usually only home for a few days and then back in training camps, so it's been great to have this time.

"Just to catch up with family and as well has been brilliant for me - it's been such a special time for me to celebrate being undisputed champion with the people I love has been amazing."

Katie Taylor was speaking at an exclusive Sky VIP event at The Lighthouse Cinema, Smithfield in Dublin.
