Katie Taylor 'not hung up' on Carl Frampton debate

Katie Taylor says she is 'not too hung up' on the ongoing debate over who Ireland's greatest-ever boxer is.

The conversation picked up pace following the recent retirement of Carl Frampton.

Belfast's Frampton called time on his career following last week's defeat to Jamel Herring in Dubai.

He walks away having become a two-weight world champion, one of only three boxers from Ireland to achieve the feat.

The others are Steve Collins and Taylor, who's burgeoning career continues to hit stellar heights.

Taylor, 34, says she wouldn't mind being ranked behind Frampton as Ireland's greatest-ever boxer, but says she will leave it to others to decide the all-time rankings.

Speaking on The Ak & Barak Show, Taylor said: “I would love to be considered the greatest Irish fighter of all time but if I am second to Carl Frampton I am doing a great job as well. I’m not too hung up about those things.

"I’m just trying to be the best that I can be and just trying to improve in every single fight.

"Whether people consider me to be the best or not I’m just trying to be the best that I can be.”
