Katie Taylor is in line for a rematch with Belgium lightweight Delfine Persoon because her mega-fight with Amanda Serrano is on the ropes.
Serrano’s team said over the weekend that the showdown with Taylor – touted as the biggest women’s fight of all time – was off because the Puerto Rican’s purse was slashed by 50 per cent.
It’s understood that the Puerto Rican was offered $200,000 to take on the IBF/WBA/WBC/WBO and Olympic champion with a date set for August.
“I’m being offered a very low purse, as if I was starving to death,” said Serrano who is on a 24-fight winning streak since 2012.
“By November or December of last year, those 135-pound division belts would be parading around the streets of my beautiful island of Puerto Rico.
“I’ve sacrificed earnings to stay active in boxing, but now my achievements speak for themselves, and I’m staying firm.”
Serrano’s manager and trainer Jordan Maldonado pointed out that his fighter had inked a deal to meet Taylor numerous times.

“On four occasions, Amanda has signed on for the fight. She signed to fight in late 2019 in New York, but Taylor opted to move up in weight,” he said.
“Now they’re offering us the fight for August but removing almost 50 per cent of Amanda’s purse. However, they are taking less from Taylor.”
Unbeaten Taylor has said she would like to record a more convincing win this time over Persoon who she controversially beat on a majority decision last year.
