Katie Taylor fans were left disappointed by comments made by Taoiseach Micheal Martin on the possibility of Dublin staging major boxing events.
The Taoiseach stated that he believes no big professional boxing events will take place in the city "any time soon".
There have been no major pro boxing promotions in the capital since the Regency Hotel shooting five years ago during a weigh-in.
"I think the whole world of professional boxing is in difficulty," said the Taoiseach. "I worry about it.
"I've great time for amateur boxing, I'm not as enthusiastic for professional boxing any more.
"I don't believe we can see it any time soon, from what I am hearing," he said.
"It's very challenging for the athlete because they want to be the very best at their sport, but it's not a comfortable environment in some areas, no doubt about that.
"I can't see it and if that's what the Gardaí and others are saying, well that's it, we've seen what's happened here already at some events and it's not good.
"That may change but it's very problematic at the moment."

Taylor took her professional record to 18-0 with a win over Natasha Jonas in Manchester on Saturday night and has expressed her desire to fight in Dublin on numerous occasions. Her promoter, Eddie Hearn, has also spoke of the possibility of staging one of her fights in the city.
But with Taylor turning 35 in July, time is running out for her chance to fight on home soil and many fans believe it would be a great shame if she didn't get the opportunity to compete in Dublin before retiring.
One fan tweeted: "How grim is it that Ireland can’t host a homecoming fight for Katie Taylor after all she’s won/done for women’s sport and all she’s achieved in boxing.
"Plenty of good Irish boxers for a decent undercard too. KT deserves to fight in front of a home crowd before she finishes!!"
Another person said: "This is a joke, Katie Taylor deserves a home fight before she past her best."
One other Twitter user commented: "Some shame if Katie Taylor never gets a homecoming fight in Ireland."
Taylor's next fight looks set to come in Leeds in September against a mandatory opponent before she faces either Jessica McCaskill, Amanda Serrano or Jonas again towards the end of the year.

Hearn said after Saturday's fight: “She has about seven mandatories lining up. I want her to box on a huge show I'm doing in Leeds on September 4.
“I'd like her to fight on that card because she's a big Leeds fan as well, so that's next.
“Then I want to either rematch Natasha Jonas or fight Amanda Serrano in December.”
Taylor hit back at suggestions she was on the decline after Saturday's win as she took aim at her critics.
She said: “My performance showed that I’m definitely not on the decline, that’s for sure.
“There was obviously a lot of talk in the week from Joe but after the fight it is all respect. I had the most respect for Joe and Tasha coming into this. I was just completely focused on the fight itself.
“These are the kind of fights you train for. I just love a bit of a tear up too much than I should. My favourite fights are (Marco Antonio) Barrera against (Erik) Morales, Arturo Gatti against Micky Ward, these kind of fights.
“I don’t want to be involved in too many of those fights but sometimes in the heat of the moment it’s hard not to trade back. Another great fight and another great win.”
On who she would like to face in the future, the undisputed lightweight champion said: "There’s so many big fights out there for me. I’m willing and ready to step in. Jessica McCaskill is a big, big fight. Jumping back into a big fight like that would be fantastic.
"Amanda Serrano would be a great fight. There have been big names being thrown out there and I’m OK to fight any of those big fights."
