Katie Taylor crowned pound for pound number one female boxer in the world

Katie Taylor has been crowned the pound for pound best female boxer in the world after dominant victory over Miriam Gutierrez last Saturday.

The Bray bruiser successfully defended her unified world lightweight titles against the Spaniard as she headlined a Matchroom Boxing fight night at the SSE Wembley Arena.

Taylor dominated her mandatory challenger throughout, scoring a comfortable points win after flooring Gutierrez in the fourth round.

And after the performance, on top of her triumphant rematch win over Delfine Persoon in August, Ring Magazine have bumped her up to top spot from number two in their list of the pound for pound female rankings.

And with Taylor enjoying a wealth of options for 2021, the 34-year-old could be set to go down the route of super-fights against top ranked stars such as Amanda Serrano.

"It's great to be considered the pound-for-pound number one and it's a very satisfying way to end the year," Taylor said.

"It's obviously been a very difficult year for everyone due to the pandemic so it's been great to have had the opportunity to get two fights in.

"Hopefully next year I can be even busier. There are so many great fights and challenges out there for me and I'm so excited about what's to come."
