Katie Taylor called out by undefeated English boxer Chantelle Cameron

Katie Taylor has been called out by English boxer Chantelle Cameron, who is the mandatory challenger for the Bray fighter's WBC lightweight belt.

Taylor defeated Delfine Persoon in a cracking contest last month and has a number of options for her next bout.

A rematch with Jessica McCaskill appears to be high on the undisputed champion's list, while her manager has hinted at a boxing/MMA crossover fight with the likes of Cris Cyborg, Holly Holm or Amanda Nunes.

But Cameron, who has won all 12 of her professional fights to date, wants a shot at Taylor next.

The Northampton boxer posted on Twitter: "Why is this fight not happening. I’m next in line, I’m mandatory. Everyone wants to see it, I want it, let’s go @KatieTaylor."

Speaking about what the future holds after her win over Persoon, Taylor said: "There's so many possibilities for me. I think obviously Jessica McCaskill.

"There's no easy fights at this stage so I'm just willing to fight whoever really. I'll leave that up to Eddie [Hearn] and my team. I'm happy to fight whoever.

"Every fight is a huge fight at this stage. I'm obviously defending my belts every single time I step into the ring. Everyone raises their game against you as well because all the belts are on the line.

"There's so much on the line every time I step into the ring. There are no easy fights, but this is what you want.

"This is what I was born for and this is what I'm training for. I train to be involved in these big fights. There's nothing better."

Meanwhile, Persoon has backtracked on her post-fight comments and now believes she shouldn't have lost on the judges' scorecards to Taylor.

She said: “We shouldn’t have lost. And certainly not without a broken nose.

“We have already heard from several boxing experts that the victory could also be for me.

“After our analysis, we have doubts. A [draw] was possible, but if we give points ourselves, we end up with 96-94 for us. Although I also know that it is one opinion against another. ”
