Katie Taylor adds yet another prestigious award to her collection

Katie Taylor has been named WBA Female Boxer of the Year for 2020.

The awards just keep coming for the undisputed lightweight world champion - who remained undefeated in the pro ranks last year.

The 34-year-old also retained Ring Magazine Female Fighter of the Year status and was named Female Fighter of the Year by the Boxing Writers' Association of America as she continues to cement her legacy as one of the sport's all-time greats.

It was another stellar year for Taylor with two wins from her two fights in 2020.

Her megafight with Amanda Serrano fell by the wayside amid the pandemic but she recorded a win over Delfine Persoon in a highly-anticipated rematch and proved her class yet again by demolishing mandatory challenger Miriam Gutierrez last month.

More than two million TV viewers across the UK and Ireland watched the unanimous decision victory over Spaniard Gutierrez.

Those wins led to Taylor being bumped up to No. 1 in the female pound-for-pound Ring Magazine rankings.

"It's great to be considered the pound-for-pound number one and it's a very satisfying way to end the year," Taylor said.

"It's obviously been a very difficult year for everyone due to the pandemic so it's been great to have had the opportunity to get two fights in.

"Hopefully next year I can be even busier. There are so many great fights and challenges out there for me and I'm so excited about what's to come."
