Katie Taylor addresses retirement speculation and reveals how long she has left before hanging up the gloves

Katie Taylor has addressed retirement speculation ahead of her bout with Jennifer Lara this weekend.

The undisputed World Champion is in action in Leeds on Saturday night as she hopes to defend her world titles.

And the 35-year-old quashed retirement rumours when Eddie Hearn asked her if she had any plans to hang up her gloves in her pre-fight press conference.

"I feel great, I know I can't do this forever but I feel fresh right now and I still have plenty more years left in the ring and this training camp has gone great.

"I feel sharp and strong and can't wait to produce one of my best performances on Saturday night," said Taylor when asked about hanging up the gloves.

And Taylor said that she is not taking her opponent lightly going into the fight.

"This is a huge fight for both of us, I don't overlook anybody and I can't afford to get complacent. When you get complacent that is when you start losing fights so I prepare for this fight just like I prepare for any fight.

"I'm expecting a tough challenge on Saturday and I'm prepared for that."

And with the fight taking place in Leeds, Taylor said the city is full of happy memories as she went over to watch Leeds United games when she was younger.

"This is the first fight in a long time where I get to fight in front of live crowds again and the fact that is here in Leeds.

"Some of my best memories as a kid is visiting this city and going to the Leeds United games in Elland Road and the city has a special place in my heart. I never thought I'd actually have an opportunity to fight here, I'm just so excited. I'm a huge Leeds United fan. "

The fight will be shown live on DAZN, which you can subscribe to for €7.99 a month here.
