Katie Robinson speaks of 'honour to play' for country in first Lionesses start

Sarina Wiegman's 'brilliant headache' for squad choice continues as Katie Robinson shone in her first senior start for England today as she says it was an honour to play for the Lionesses.

The 20-year-old showed her talent with some fancy footwork and clever link-ups with Lauren Hemp and on her full debut it was her that set up Rachel Daly for the Lionesses' opener.

Robinson perfectly timed a cross on the right to set up Daly for her to head home a goal to break the stalemate in the 32nd minute, showing Sarina exactly what she's made of as Wiegman starts thinking about the Women's World Cup in July.

Wiegman has crafted an environment where players are encouraged to show their versatility and the promotion of youngsters to the senior squad is now a clear path, with Robinson the latest young talent to make her full debut.

After England's second Arnold Clark Cup win, Robinson spoke to the media about the "confident" feeling in the squad as they head into the third and final matchday with two wins.

The Brighton and Hove Albion player, however, is humbled by the praise for her brilliant performance, along with her first senior start.

She said: "It's only my second camp with the team so I'm just trying to learn as much as possible and integrate myself as well", she said.

"Training is such a high quality and it makes me raise my standards and hopefully I can try and bring something to the team as well when I'm on the pitch.

"I was nervous before the game. It was such an honour to play, I enjoyed it so much."
