Katie Price vows to overcome injury and chronic pain to run a marathon next year

Katie Price is planning on running a marathon next year.

The former glamour model, 42, was last year told she might never walk again after smashing both of her feet during a holiday in Turkey following a horror fall from a 25ft wall.

The mum-of-five was forced to undergo a gruelling 8-hour operation during which doctors and nurses fused her bones together after fears she might have to use a wheelchair forever.

But despite the crippling pain she's been facing on her road to recovery, Katie has now revealed that a marathon is on the cards for her next April.

Appearing on Steph's Packed Lunch on Channel 4, Katie unveiled her plans to run in 2021.

“Mentally, when you’re told you’ve got a life-changing injury, I’m told I can’t run again. I am going to be determined, the fact that they said that, I want to run the marathon next April… I’d have to do a fast walk or something, I don’t want that to be taken away and I’ll do everything I can to do it," she said.

She added: “You’ve got to get up and try and make the effort. Yes it’s painful, trust me, I am in pain every day and it gets so aggravating.

"I get restless legs… Although I look fine and I’m getting on with stuff, I find being busy helps because it takes my mind off the pain."

“I’ve proved I’m determined. To be told I’m in a wheelchair, told I can’t walk for 18 months, I’m already walking and it’s been nine months, because I’m determined. I don’t want to sit there," she added.

Katie opened up about the crippling pain she's forced to deal with on a daily basis, telling Steph: “It’s a pain I just have to deal with. I’ve got painkillers but I don’t take them because then it’s another thing my body will rely on.

"I just try and cope without it, I know I’m going to be in pain forever."

Katie last month described the constant pain that she is in after the arch on one of her feet collapsed and that she is needing physiotherapy sessions four times a week in a bid to bring some comfort to her injuries.

The reality star said that it is "emotionally very hard" as she can only walk for 20 minutes before the pain is unbearable.

This has meant that she medically qualifies for a blue badge and she admits that she has already applied for one.
