Katie Price: Trauma and Me set to document 'downward spiral' before drink and drug crash

Katie Price will talk about her mad year of drink and drugs which saw her crash her car and nearly get sent to jail in a new documentary.

The one-off episode for Channel 4 will explore the 43-year-old’s mental health and the events that led to her downward spiral.

Called Katie Price: Trauma and Me, the programme is set to discuss the events that led to her stay in The Priory – something she has never spoken about before.

It will also document the steps Katie is now taking to rebuild her life after crashing her Range Rover near her Sussex home in September last year.

Narrowly avoiding jail before Christmas, Katie admitted that she “could have killed someone”.

Despite it being her sixth driving conviction in 10 years, Katie was not sent to prison over the smash.

Instead, a judge banned her from driving for two years. She was also handed a 16-week suspended jail sentence and told she must do 100 hours of unpaid community service.

Now it’s been revealed the mum-of-five will be paying back her debt to society by working in a charity shop and an elderly care centre.

Katie has said 'traumatic events' led to her crash and stint in rehab (ITV/GMB)

Speaking to ITV ’s Good Morning Britain recently, Katie said “traumatic” events had led to the car crash and that she wasn’t usually a big drinker.

Hinting there was a lot more to what happened than people know about yet, the former glamour model added: “The events leading up to it were very traumatic.

“I’m not ready to talk about it yet. I’m seeing a therapist every week, something I will do for the rest of my life.”

“There are reasons why I got in that car, my mental state. I feel ashamed about it. I just think that people shouldn’t judge,” she added.

Katie Price is set to makeover her Mucky Mansion (Channel 4)

In another deal with Channel 4, it’s been revealed Katie will also renovate her Mucky Mansion by starring in a home makeover show.

Katie Price’s Mucky Mansion will follow the star and her family as experts try to renovate her sprawling 10-acre property.

The three episodes will show Katie as she tries to put her bad memories and traumatic events that have happened there behind her as she creates a “happy home” for her family.

From designing the perfect bedrooms for her kids to overseeing a kitchen makeover, viewers will see Katie like they’ve never seen her before as she gets stuck into crafting, decorating and upcycling.

Speaking about the new show, Katie said: “My house has been called the Mucky Mansion in the past, but it’s not that anymore, I’m making it a home.

“I’m getting my hands dirty and doing a lot of the work myself and, with the help of my amazing family and some brilliant friends, I’m putting the past behind me and rebuilding.

"My house is a bit like my life, it’s being put back together like I’m being put back together."
