Katie Price stuns fans with 'personal' social media announcement

Katie Price has announced some shock news on her social media accounts. The mum-of-five has revealed that she will be taking a social media break for a “period of time”, adding that it is for “personal reasons”.

The last couple of weeks have been somewhat troubled for Katie, who saw charges against her dropped in court. You can read more about that here. Her social media hiatus comes after her ex Kieran Hayler's fiancée Michelle Penticost criticised her for missing daughter Princess' 15th birthday.

In the post, Katie, 44, wrote: “I will be coming off all social media for a period of time.” She added: “I need to take time off for personal reasons.” She ended the post by thanking her fans for "always supporting [her]". The post was accompanied by a caption consisting of three red heart emojis on Instagram.

On the post, Katie turned off the option for people to leave comments.

The personal post is unusual for Katie, as her Instagram is typically filled with pictures of her children, Harvey, Junior, Princess, Bunny, and Jet – or glamorous photographs from events and holidays.

Fans of the star were quick to support her on social media. One person wrote: "Look after yourself and the kids. Sending you love and happiness." Echoing the sentiment, someone else said: "You take as much time as you want Katie."

Elsewhere, some people were less supportive. Someone declared: "You could just come off it and not announce it..." Meanwhile, another person said: "Can't say I'm particularly bothered to be honest!"

In June, Katie swerved a potential jail sentence after she was warned she could face prison time when she pleaded guilty to breaching a restraining order after she messaged her ex Kieran Hayler’s fiancée Michelle Penticost. The star was given a community order and told to pay £1,500 costs at Lewes Crown Court.
