Katie Price slams celebs who have autistic children and don't use power to raise awareness

Katie Price has slammed unnamed stars who have autistic children for not using their celebrity status to raise awareness around the disability.

The former glamour model, 42, took to her Instagram Story on Tuesday night to praise ex-Boyzone star Keith Duffy as he made an appearance on the TV to talk about his daughter Mia's Autism diagnosis.

Mum-of-five Katie applauded the doting dad for speaking out about those who suffer with Autism and the struggles they face with being accepted.

She went on to add that she knows other famous stars who have not come forward to raise awareness about the condition with their fans and 'don't use their status for a good purpose'.

On her Story alongside a photo of Keith, the reality star wrote: "Good to see @officialkeithduffy talking about Autism and being accepted, I know other celebs who have children with Autism who could also help make awareness and support families and offer support but don't."

Katie continued: "Makes me think they are ashamed or embarrassed they have a child with Autism because they are happy to be in the limelight themselves but don't use their status for a good purpose that can make a difference."

The doting mum uses her platform to make others aware of Autism as her eldest son Harvey, 18, lives with the disability, as well as Prader-Willi syndrome, septo-optic dysplasia, and a learning disability.

In recent days, the teenager has launched his very own clothing range and teamed up with autism-aware clothing label Born Anxious for the trendy collection.

Harvey's fashionable range includes basketball vests and shorts, T-shirts, jogging trousers, hoodies, and recycled messenger bags.

All clothing items are printed with Harvey's frog logo on the front and feature messages on the back of the garments including ‘I DON’T LIKE LOUD NOISE’, ‘AUTISM ARMY’, ‘BEE KIND’, and ‘I’M ANXIOUS’ in a bid to spread awareness on Autism.

The profits from Harvey's range will be divided equally between Harvey's personal trust fund, the Anna Kennedy Online charity, and Born Anxious.

On launching the new clothing range, proud mum Katie said: “I am really happy for Harvey to release his own official range of clothing which celebrates his love of frogs and also a way of donating to Anna Kennedy’s charity and raise Autism awareness through the Born Anxious clothing label.”

The Mirror has contacted Katie's representative for comment.
