Katie Price's mum Amy in tears as she discusses funeral plans on Jeremy Vine

Katie Price’s mum Amy choked back tears as she discussed plans for her own funeral on Jeremy Vine.

Amy, 64, was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in 2017, a terminal condition that causes scarring to the lungs and reduces the ability to breathe.

The mother-daughter duo appeared on the host’s self-titled show on Thursday as part of a segment about caring for an unwell parent, with Katie revealing that she is “very matter of fact” about the situation.

“I say to her, well, at least you know that you’re going to die, because you can plan things,” Katie explained. “We've been advised to make memories, have special moments... because you could just lose someone just like that.”

Katie, 40, said that her brother and sister don’t want her to talk about it but Katie feels that her mum can “plan exactly how she wants her own funeral”.

“What kind of funeral would you like? What would you like there? It’s good to be able to plan that so when the day comes, my mum got it exactly how she liked it. That’s the way I think of things,” she added.

But the conversation proved too much for Amy as she broke down on detailing plans for her funeral.

She said: “I want my funeral to be a good one, because I will be there…” but was overcome with tears before finishing her sentence.

Katie Price and Amy Price on Loose Women

Katie praised her mum’s “fighting spirit” as she told the show that she gets her “fight” and “outspokenness” from her.

Earlier in the week, Amy burst into tears during an appearance on Loose Women after they revealed that her “dying wish” had been delayed because of Brexit.

The family had hoped to see Harvey’s Law debated in Parliament with a view to having the law passed making online trolling a criminal offence. But the process has been delayed due to Brexit debates.

The issue will now be heard in the chamber on April 29, weeks after the initial slot given to the proposal.

The Jeremy Vine Show is on Channel 5, weekdays at 9.15am
