Katie Price's joy as extremely vulnerable son Harvey gets his first Covid vaccine

Katie Price revealed her disabled son Harvey has been given his first jab of the Covid vaccine early.

Harvey Price, 18, had the Oxford/AstraZeneca jab yesterday and qualified because he is considered vulnerable after being born with several disabilities, including autism and the genetic condition Prader-Willi Syndrome.

The former glamour model, 42, explained how she is overjoyed he has got a jab, saying: "It’s felt strange being in a school hall with everybody sitting on chairs in rows a metre apart.

"Then a doctor speaks to tell you about the Oxford vaccine.

"Harvey was the youngest we saw there, it was all smoothly, calmly and professionally done.

"Harvey was so brave and it was over so quick, everybody's so helpful.

"It just felt like being in a film and made you realise more how serious this is."

Harvey, who is also partially sighted, has been immunised in the fourth stage of the government rollout of the vaccine.

The mum was widely praised for her recent documentary BBC documentary which she featured in with Harvey Katie Price: Harvey and Me (BBC/Minnow Films)

The majority of people who have so far received the vaccine are 70 years old and over.

There has been exceptions of younger people getting a dose if they are frontline health and social care workers or clinically extremely vulnerable individuals.

Harvey will have a second dose within the next three months, with the first one giving him 70 per cent protection after 22 days.

Katie Price : Harvey & Me showed the mum-of-five searching for a residential college for Harvey now that he's turned 18.

At the end of the documentary, Katie decided to apply for Harvey to attend a £350,000 per year college.

Both mum and son fell in love with the college, and Katie decided to ask the head to put an application to Katie's local authority in order for Harvey's stay to be financed.

Harvey will go to college when he turns 19, and the documentary, which shared an eye-opening insight into Katie's life with him, is set for a sequel following its success.
