Kris Boyson has expressed fears for girlfriend Katie Price after revealing she has been “suffering from depression and anxiety in silence”.
The personal trainer said the former glamour model uses her “hard” persona as a way of dealing with criticism.
“She's been in the game a long time, but she suffers as well," he told new! magazine. “In fact, she's a prime example of someone who suffers in silence. Don't think she's as hard as she appears to be.
“People think she's tough as nail and she plays up to that because it's her coping mechanism. If she shows any weakness she'll get eaten alive. She may play the game and act hard, but criticism and lies really affect her."
The comments come after Price sparked a backlash on Instagram after being accused of “exploiting” her children and “forcing body issues onto them”.
The mother-of-five posted a video of herself with Harvey, 16, Princess, 11, and Junior, 13 as they smothered their lunchtime wraps with a “skinny” mayonnaise.
Price has had a tumultuous few months following a drink-driving court case and ongoing online abuse targeted at her son Harvey.
On Tuesday, Price unveiled a first look at the new series of her reality show My Crazy Life.
The brand new trailer showed Price looking shocked as Boyson cooked up a healthy plate of courgetti wearing nothing but his white boxers.
After asking what he’s doing, Boyson explained: “The idea is you won't eat as much if you eat with no clothes on."
The series is also set to focus her recent appearances on Loose Women and This Morning, on which she told Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield that she wants to adopt a Nigerian orphan.
