Katie Price petition to stop her buying pets doubles as she 'gives Princess' puppy away'

A petition to stop Katie Price from buying anymore animals has doubled after she 'gave her daughter Princess' puppy away'.

More than 14,000 have signed the online petition, which calls for the the mum-of-five to be banned from owning pets for life.

Katie is known for her love of animals, particularly puppies, but has lost several dogs in a series of tragic accidents.

In February last year, the 43 year old's Alsatian Sparkle was killed after being hit by a car.

Katie's dog Queenie died in similar circumstances, after being run over by a pizza delivery van.

Then there was Princess' poor Rolo, who sadly suffocated after getting trapped under a chair.

After losing Rollo, Katie bought her daughter another dog called Precious, but the former glamour model reportedly gave it away to a member of the crew working on her mucky mansion show.

The Sun reported Precious' new owner took to Instagram to share a few pictures of the dog, writing: "One week of fatherhood, you’ve changed the game, you smelly, snoring, dobby-eared, adorable little pig."

Katie said she was 'heartbroken' over Rolo, but within weeks of the dog's death a petition was launched by an angry animal lover.

"A puppy has died in the last 24 hours in Katie Price's care, she bought this puppy for her 13-year-old child 3 weeks ago," it read.

"In the last 5 years more animals have died from lack of care. Horses, dogs, cats, lizards, hedgehogs.

"This isn't a single family tragedy. It's a common thing in Katie Price's home."

And in news which will no doubt anger the petition poster further, Katie looks set to welcome another dog, called Okra, into her home to join fellow protection dog Blade and chihuahua Buddy, according to the Sun.

The star's track record with pets has incensed animal rights organisation PETA.

In a statement, PETA's director, Elisa Allen, told The Mirror: "Given her track record with animals, several of whom have died in her 'care,' it would be irresponsible and reckless for Katie to be allowed to acquire another one."

"And any breeder willing to sell to her is clearly putting profit over the animals' welfare."

In an additional comment, Ms Allen said: "Katie's irresponsible attitude is costing wonderful individuals their lives, so PETA urges her – and anyone else unable to provide animals with appropriate care – to fill their homes with cuddly toys instead."

However a representative for Katie told the Mirror that the reality TV star is "an avid pet lover" and that she would be "more than happy" to support future PETA campaigns.

Her rep told us: "It has been well documented that Kate is an avid pet lover and these incidents have occurred however, Kate would be more than happy to sit down with Elisa Allen, director of PETA, to discuss her concerns."
