Katie Price has revealed she has “no choice” but to put Harvey into care because he acts like a “nightmare newborn” who scares his siblings.
Price, 40, said plans are in place for the 16-year-old, who is blind, autistic and suffers from Prader–Willi syndrome, to board at his school Monday to Friday.
“At night time he’s like a nightmare newborn,” she said on This Morning. “I don’t get any sleep. He comes in, goes in the kitchen and bangs about, goes in the kids’ room and goes ‘boo’ so they’re scared and come in my room.”
Price, who previously revealed her son has smashed windows, four TVs and eight iPads this year, said he gets triggered into a “rage” which upsets her younger children Jett, five, and Bunny, four.
“They get scared of him now,” she said. “When he triggers off he’s so big. When he’s in that rage, he’s in that rage.”
Price, who has cared for Harvey one-on-one since he was born, said she has finally been convinced that she needs additional help, saying it will also benefit her son’s health and education.
“I love him so much he’s my absolute life, but he’s just hard work now,” she said. “At his school they do board them there and it’s taken me ages, ages, to be convinced it’s the best place.
“I’ve never done respite because I’d never want him to think I’m palming him off. But it’s come to a point where I actually have no choice. I can still go there and tuck him into bed, I can have dinner with him, I can come and watch him after school. I’m really nervous.”
Price faced a backlash after opening up on putting Harvey into residential care, with some accusing her of wanting to “replace” Harvey after announcing plans to adopt a Nigerian orphan.
“I’ve never exposed Harvey kicking off and when his behaviour is very challenging so if people knew how difficult it is you would certainly shut your mouth and think twice judging me!” she posted on Instagram.
“Harvey is my total life and NOBODY knows how much I love him and what amazing bond we have! It takes a special person to care and look after a person with complex needs so frankly I suggest go and help in a care home kids school with complex needs elderly and then comment what’s its like x.”
Price also has son Junior, 13, and Princess, 11, with ex-husband Peter Andre. She shares Jett and Bunny with Kieran Hayler while Harvey’s father is ex-footballer Dwight Yorke.
