Katie Price fears for Harvey's future amid concerns he will never reach his 'dream'

Katie Price admitted she feared her son Harvey's dream "won’t be possible" because of his disabilities.

Harvey - whose estranged father is retired footballer Dwight Yorke - has been diagnosed with Septo-optic Dysplasia, as well as autism and Prader-Willi syndrome, which means that he requires constant care.

Former glamour model Katie has been open about her son's struggles and has shown fans Harvey's day-to-day life on social media and in shows.

In a one-off film for The One Show on Thursday night, Katie and Harvey explore the barriers faced by young disabled people who are trying to find a job for the first time.

The 44-year-old opened up about her concerns for him and said: "Like many other young people with a disability he’s finding it difficult making the transition into adulthood – especially when it comes to getting a job.

"I want nothing more than for Harvey to find his dream job – but because he needs so much support, I worry it won’t be possible."

In the film, the mother-son duo heads to Wakeful to learn about the DFN Project Search - which is a scheme that offers work experience placements to disabled people at various private and public organisations.

Harvey got to meet several people with disabilities and learned about his career options when he finishes college.

Katie said: "After meeting the families today I realise that Harvey can get a fulfilling job and hopefully he’ll be able to get the independence he desperately strives for."

The 20-year-old is Katie’s eldest child and currently attends a residential college away from home.

Several years ago, Katie opened up about the moment Dwight said he "disowned" Harvey from his life.

In her book, Harvey & Me: A Mother's Love, she discussed meeting up with Dwight in a restaurant in Cheshire.

"I brought up what Harvey had said to him on his birthday and asked if he would like to start seeing him regularly," she wrote.

She continued: "And that's when he put the final nail in the coffin and said, 'To be honest, I've disowned you and I've disowned Harvey out of my life. I don't want anything to do with either of you.' Wow. How low can you get?"
