Katie Price has shared an update on her relationship with husband Lee Andrews – weeks after revealing that he is being held in a Dubai prison.
The nation was gripped by the former glamour model’s saga with husband Andrews last month, when Price revealed that he had disappeared after failing to fly from his home in Dubai to the UK. After weeks of uncertainty over his whereabouts, she claimed at the end of May that he was being detained in Al Awir prison on suspicion of being a spy.
Despite the ongoing drama, it doesn’t seem as though their five-month marriage has been impacted – with Price declaring her love for Andrews in a new Instagram post.
Sharing a photo of her wearing a huge diamond ring on her Instagram Story, Price wrote on Saturday (6 June): “I love @wesleeeandrews.”
It comes just days after the TV personality returned from visiting Andrews in Dubai, fuelling rumours that the couple could be on the rocks after being pictured without her wedding ring. Price also appeared in a now-deleted video with Andrews’ ex partner Dina Taji, revealing that their discussion would take place on her podcast, The Katie Price Show.
Last wee, Price updated her followers on Facebook, revealing that payment was required to release Andrews from prison. “I know he's in a prison. I've been told if two cases are paid they'll let him out. I'm going to see if that's true. If he does he gets out and then I need answers and questions to a lot of stuff,” she said on the platform.
“If those cases are paid and he's not allowed out then I've got to try and get a visit to chat about everything. I think you only get half an hour. Either way I don't know if I'm going to see Lee or not when I get there.”
She later revealed that time was “running out” to help her husband before she flew back to the UK, saying on Thursday: “I still need to hear back from his lawyer if I can get a visit to see him, and it's Wednesday, and I go on Friday. Time is running out.”
It was previously reported that Andrews needed to pay a fine of £100,000 to be released, with The Sun claiming that he had been detained over claims relating to a private civil matter. The Independent has contacted Andrews, Price and the Dubai authorities for comment.
Price and Dubai-based businessman Andrews married back in January after meeting in person just days before. Since then, it has been revealed that Andrews doesn’t have a PhD from Cambridge and is not on the Board of Advisors for the Labour Party – having previously claimed to have both of those credentials.
Price’s hunt for Andrews began on Saturday 16 May, with the TV personality revealing in a YouTube video that she hadn’t heard from him in days and worried that he had been kidnapped.
“He had ties around his hand, not handcuffs, and a hood, and he said, ‘Look, they’re coming back for me,’ that is the last FaceTime call I had,” she said in the video.
A week later, Price said that she was yet to hear from Andrews and was “taking a step back” from the case. “My tentacles are up so look, I’m not a stupid person and I get how people see things and I have been reading things,” she said.
“I’ve got lots of exciting things coming up and I’m just waiting for a call. What am I supposed to do? Sit here and cry and do nothing? Stay in bed? No because I’m not that. We will find out everything, I’m sure.”
Then, on Wednesday 27 May, Price revealed that Andrews had finally been found, claiming that he was being detained in a Dubai prison on suspicion of espionage. “I told him how worried I had been and told him I loved him,” she said at the time.
“It was very rushed, but he said the authorities out there thought he was a spy. I don’t know much more than that right now.”
